ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

Invest Ontario is seeking a resourceful and detail-oriented Investment Intake and Triage Advisor with a strong solution-focused, project management orientation. This is a key position with high levels of responsibility, internal visibility, and impact across all business lines of the organization.

As the Investment Intake and Triage Advisor, you will be responsible for managing multi-channel investment lead intake processes, conducting preliminary opportunity and risk assessment, and facilitating investor access to Invest Ontario investment specialists and business support programs. The role requires developing plans to service investment opportunities across agency, multi-ministry, and regional stakeholders, and leading referral consultations and pipeline information reporting to executive leadership, ministry, and partners in other levels of government.

SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Investment Intake and Opportunity Assessment

  • Serve as concierge for prospective investors
  • Design, implement, monitor, and manage digital investor referral and intake channels
  • Conduct preliminary opportunity assessment and risk assessment. Provide recommendations on opportunity governance, account management and partnership approach based on assessed size, scope, complexity, strategic importance, risk profile, investment decision timeline and current and forecasted resource load
  • Determine potential eligibility for different government programs and services
  • Develop plan to service investment opportunities across agency, multi-ministry and regional stakeholders
  • Lead referral consultations and pipeline information reporting to executive leadership, ministry and partners in other levels of government

Project Management

  • Monitors opportunities to ensure deadlines, deliverables and service commitments are met:
  • Develop, measure, monitor and report on investor service levels
  • Analyzes and reports on service-related issues, finding and outcomes
  • Providing status updates and advice to the Board, CEO, and Executive Leadership team.
  • Leading multi-functional teams, including members from across the agency and provincial government, formed on an issue or project basis to resolve issues and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Leading, preparing, researching, and presenting information, briefing notes, correspondence, and option papers for senior management where required.
  • Developing and managing critical ministry consultations to identify and manage issues/risks.
  • Participating in policy decisions through strategic research and analysis.

Program Evaluation

  • Leads and facilitates consultations to identify collaborative processes, standards, information and resource planning needs:
  • Evaluates and assesses access and investor satisfaction with services and programs.
  • Provides strategic advice and guidance on the evaluation of multi-ministry investment and attraction services and programs, outcomes management and coordination across multi-ministries.
  • Identifies opportunities and provides recommendations on cross-cutting initiatives to better align to delivery, evaluation, and outcomes across different types of investments.

Stakeholder Liaison and Engagement

  • Develops and maintains effective relationships across Invest Ontario, government, with other agencies, as well as representatives of other governments and industry sectors.
  • Provides information, advice and outreach services to potential investors/investors and other external stakeholders to support proposals and coordinate business support programs across multi-ministries.
  • Negotiates and resolves issues among multi-ministry partners to ensure the coordination and timeliness of business support approvals; balances competing interests and proactively avoids negative and unintended consequences.
  • Provide advice and expertise to internal and external stakeholders on issues related to the development and implementation of programs and services that support the government’s investment attraction and economic development strategies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in economic development, or a related field.
  • University degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of the government’s economic development policies and strategies that address Ontario’s competitive advantages for investment attraction purposes.
  • Understands the ecosystem and market both in Ontario, and internationally and stays apprised of current developments and future trends.
  • Ability to organize and track overlapping tasks, with frequent priority changes and aggressive timelines
  • Ability to process and assess large amounts of information
  • Has a solution-oriented mindset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Entrepreneurial with a client-minded focus
  • Technical proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and work-specific software.
  • Additional languages spoken an asset.
