PackUniverse and Plastic Component Industries to open their first global facilities in the province

As part of the province’s plan to strengthen the economy amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, Vic Fedeli, is currently participating in the province’s first-ever virtual trade and investment mission, with India as the inaugural destination.

In choosing India as the first virtual mission location, Minister Fedeli is building on an already fruitful partnership, established over years of mutual social, cultural and economic similarities.

Currently, India has more than 60 companies with operations in Ontario.

And there are about to be two more.

Along with the Minister, Indian manufacturing leaders PackUniverse and Plastic Component Industries (PCI) both announced they will be expanding their international operations for the first time, choosing Ontario as the home for their respective new facilities.

Indian Automotive Parts Company Expanding Operations to Ontario, Canada

With intentions to begin operations in the province in 2021, PackUniverse manufactures packaging material such as block pine wood boxes, heavy duty corrugated boxes, expandable steel racks and more. PackUniverse is currently working with major automotive and pharmaceutical partners in India, two sectors in which Ontario also maintains leadership status.

Also planning a 2021 launch, PCI manufactures injection moulding components and technology products such as automotive trunk openers, inside rear-view mirrors, tire pressure monitors and other auto parts. The company is working with major automotive companies in India including Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, MG Motors and more.

Ontario’s incredible roster of home-grown and transplant talent, along with its innovative business climate, R&D tax credits, and reputation as a manufacturing powerhouse, makes it an easy choice for international investors in India and beyond.

Minister Fedeli will conclude his virtual mission to India on December 15th after leading a delegation of Ontario tech superstars to India Mobile Congress, South Asia’s largest technology event.
