New facility will support the development of Canadian rocket technology, create high-skilled jobs and build capabilities in Ontario's growing aerospace sector.

LONDON, Ontario, October 1, 2026 – Invest Ontario joined Canada Rocket Company (CRC) to celebrate the establishment of the Jeremy Hansen Rocket Test Facility at London International Airport. The $30 million investment will create at least 40 new jobs over the next 18 months and establish critical infrastructure to test and validate rocket technologies designed and developed in Ontario.

Over time, the facility is expected to support a broader vehicle development program projected to generate approximately 1,000 jobs and attract more than $1 billion in additional investment over the next decade.

The 12,000 square foot testing facility will enable the Toronto-based company to validate critical rocket systems, driving further advances in design, safety and performance. CRC is developing a reusable medium-lift launch vehicle, with dedicated testing infrastructure that will help accelerate technology development and operational readiness.

Named after a pioneering Canadian astronaut, the expansion provides CRC with the infrastructure needed to advance and refine its technology while strengthening Ontario’s position in a strategic growth sectors. Led by professionals with experience at some of the world's leading aerospace companies, the company chose Ontario to build and grow its business, further strengthening the province's talent base and innovation ecosystem.

Invest Ontario supported the expansion through site selection assistance, permitting support, introductions to strategic partners and connections with local stakeholders and post-secondary institutions in collaboration with the London Economic Development Corporation, helping lay the groundwork for future growth in the region. Building on those relationships, CRC is developing training and workforce partnerships with Western University and Fanshawe College, strengthening the talent pipeline for both the company and Ontario’s growing aerospace sector.

Ontario is uniquely positioned to support the growth of advanced aerospace companies. With more than 94,000 STEM graduates each year from world-class institutions and Canada’s largest defence sector by employment, the province offers the talent, industrial capability and strategic partnerships that innovative companies need to scale and compete globally.

For decades, Ontario has served as the trusted industrial and innovation backbone for Canada and its allied partners, equipped with the talent, expertise, and manufacturing capabilities needed to advance critical defence and aerospace projects. By establishing their new testing facility in London, Canada Rocket Company will build upon this legacy, unlocking new opportunities for our world-class workforce. We congratulate CRC on this milestone and look forward to seeing their operations enhance Canada’s sovereign aerospace capabilities in the years to come.

Hon. Vic Fedeli

Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade

Before a rocket ever leaves the ground, someone has to build the places where it gets made and tested, and that's what's happening in London. This facility is where our engineering becomes hardware. Canada's path to its own access to space starts on the ground, in facilities like this one. By building here, we are turning a national priority into real infrastructure, jobs, and capability. We are committed to working alongside the London community to make this mission a reality.
