New centre for clinical AI innovation aiming to bolster Ontario's healthcare system and fuel Heidi’s North American growth
TORONTO, Ontario, September 3, 2026 – Invest Ontario welcomes a planned $25.4 million investment from Heidi as the company establishes its North American headquarters in Toronto, reinforcing Ontario’s position as a global hub for AI-enabled healthcare innovation.
This expansion reflects the Melbourne-based company’s long-term commitment to Ontario’s technology and healthcare sectors. The new office has already recruited 17 employees and is expected to create over 30 additional high-skilled jobs in the coming years.
Heidi develops AI-powered tools that support clinical documentation and workflow management for healthcare providers. From its Toronto headquarters, the company will lead its North American market expansion, while supporting R&D in product innovation and strengthening strategic partnerships across the region.
Our decision to anchor our North American operations in Toronto is a testament to the city’s status as a global leader in artificial intelligence and health-tech. The value of this investment lies in its impact on the clinician, patient, and healthcare system. By building a local team, we are ensuring that our AI Care Partner is deeply rooted in the clinical realities and regulatory standards of the Canadian market, delivering reimagined healthcare that expands the capacity of the entire system.
Jessie Young
President of North America, Heidi
Heidi’s AI Care Partner has supported 11 million clinical hours in Canada since launch. Canada is now Heidi's second largest market globally and its fastest-growing. The platform is designed to anticipate and progress patient care across the full clinical journey, streamlining clinical workflows, reducing administrative burden and enabling clinicians to spend more time focused on patients.
Establishing our North American headquarters in Toronto is a pivotal milestone in our mission to double healthcare’s capacity without dehumanizing it. Ontario’s AI talent and its world-class network of research hospitals and academic institutions make it the ideal environment for Heidi to innovate and scale. By collaborating with Ontario’s leading healthcare partners, we are helping provide clinicians with the AI tools they need to focus entirely on patient interaction.

CEO and Co-Founder, Heidi
The expansion aligns with Ontario’s Primary Care Action Plan by equipping clinicians with digital tools that improve efficiency, strengthen access to care, help patients stay connected to providers and reduce strain across the healthcare system.
Home to an integrated research and development network and world-class STEM talent pool, Ontario has proudly established itself as the partner of choice for global companies looking to scale their innovations. By anchoring their North American headquarters in Toronto, Heidi will further strengthen Ontario’s AI leadership and help meet a growing global demand for red-tape reduction in clinical environments. We congratulate the Heidi team on this latest milestone and look forward to seeing their innovative solutions advance patient-focused care across our own health-care system.
