Invest Ontario welcomes SEKISUI Canada Modular Solutions’ expansion in Burlington

Global modular construction leader establishes Canadian hub, supporting Ontario’s housing and infrastructure priorities

BURLINGTON, Ontario, August 19, 2026 – Invest Ontario welcomes a $15 million investment from SEKISUI Canada Modular Solutions Inc. (SCMS) to establish its Canadian manufacturing and operations hub in Burlington, Ontario.

The Burlington facility will bring advanced modular construction technology to Ontario and help address growing demand for housing and community infrastructure across the province, while creating skilled jobs in the advanced manufacturing sector.

A subsidiary of Japan-based SEKISUI Chemical Co., Ltd., SCMS leverages more than 50 years of modular construction expertise developed in Japan. SCMS will use advanced manufacturing processes that enable up to 90% of building construction to take place in a controlled factory environment before assembly onsite. This approach can improve construction efficiency, enhance quality control, reduce project timelines and support more sustainable building practices.

SCMS delivers high-precision steel-frame modular building systems for a range of sectors, including low- and mid-rise residential developments, schools and educational facilities, institutional buildings and commercial projects. The company already serves clients in Northern Ontario and plans to pursue new opportunities across the province and expand into broader Canadian and North American markets.
