Narrator: A Map of Ontario is shown, zooming in to the highlighted Niagara region Bruno Tremblay: We ended up here in the Niagara region in Port Colborne in Ontario because basically we get everything that we need, either on the logistics, on the raw material, or on the energy sourcing. So that's just a perfect site for us. Narrator: Jim Bradley - Regional Chair Niagara Region Jim Bradley: We have major transportation services, a great workforce and the people of local governments are all prepared to be as cooperative as possible. Narrator: Hon. Doug Ford - Premier of Ontario Hon. Doug Ford: We're thrilled to join you today to celebrate your tremendous success here in Ontario. This expansion will help you reach new markets and strengthen local supply chains. Narrator: Hon. Victor Fedeli - Ontario Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade Hon. Victor Fedeli: When we met with Jungbunzlauer in their boardroom in Switzerland over a year ago, we offered them what Invest Ontario calls "white glove" service, and that's exactly what they received. John Millen: Ontario had all the key ingredients for the expansion to succeed. Narrator: John Millen - Portfolio Lead John Millen: It was taking corn and basically taking it from a commodity product to an upscaled high price premium product for export globally. Bruno Tremblay: To grow in the industry you need permitings. You need to have access to the right people in order not to lose time in your expansion. John Millen: By working with us they could take comfort that they had the province sort of on their side. Bruno Tremblay: I think we have been always well listened by Invest Ontario in order to help us grow in our journey as quickly as possible. John Millen: We have a number of tools, connections with various infrastructure partners to utilities, our contacts with municipalities, as well as site selection. Narrator: Ryan Doell - General Manager - Canadian Operations Jungbunzlauer Canada Ryan Doell: It gets our toehold of Xanthan gum into North America and we are going to expand from here. So it's very, very important for us and for the economy in Ontario. Hon. Doug Ford: What it does is give this area certainty and opportunity. People know that when they see an expansion, there's gainful employment here. Jim Bradley: This is big time investment taking place here, which will be creating great construction jobs, which are important in the short term, but also other jobs in the long term. John Millen: JBL is one of a number of examples where companies that have come here from outside of Canada establish a facility and have thrived, and as a result, they're expanding.
