Global collaboration is now more important than ever before, and Ontario, Canada is opening its doors to some of the best and brightest people from around the world. We know that talent is our lifeblood – and that the next game-changing innovation can come from anyone, anywhere. To put it simply: there has never been a better time to consider a move to Ontario as your H1B Visa solution. The province is home to some of the most highly skilled and educated people from every corner of the globe. In fact, Ontario is the 2nd largest IT cluster in North America and is brimming with premier tech talent. Seven of the world’s 10 largest tech companies conduct R&D in the province, and we are home to two of the world’s largest start-up ecosystems, Toronto and Waterloo. Our welcoming approach to immigration complements our existing base of stellar homegrown talent and bolsters our reputation as a cultural mosaic. And, we’ve got several government programs in place to help workers and their families during career transitions. If you’re thinking of your next step, the time is right to think Ontario. The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) allows foreign workers, international students and others with the right skills, experience and education to apply for a nomination for permanent residence in Ontario. In fact, the province has recently modernized the OINP, making it easier for entrepreneurs and skilled labour – from tech specialists to personal support workers to trucker drivers – to come to Ontario, contribute to our economy and build better lives. Last year, the OINP also introduced a dedicated approach to supporting the ICT sector. The program identified priority occupations in the technology space to make it easier for businesses to recruit top talent from around the world. With almost a third of Ontario’s 14 million people born outside of Canada, we know that international talent is essential to establishing a strong business environment. The Global Skills Strategy The Ontario government works closely with the Government of Canada to implement immigration programs that help companies recruit and retain highly skilled international talent at the speed of business. For example, The Global Skills Strategy offers work permits in just 10 business days. Open work permits for spouses and study permits for dependents will also be processed in two weeks – this way, families can stay together. Why Ontario? Ontario is one of the most popular hubs for global talent in all of Canada, attracting almost 44% of all new immigrants in 2018. This statistic is no surprise to those who live here already and know that the province truly has it all. Ontario cities consistently rank among the best places to live and work in the world. We are proud of our affordable healthcare and housing. Average healthcare costs are lower than many of our competitors, and our cities compare favourably with their North American peers when it comes to housing costs. Ontario is also incredibly multi-cultural. With over 200 languages spoken, the province is full of diverse pockets and cultural hubs that will make you feel right at home. With a recognized history of innovation, high quality of life, low corporate tax rates, and a highly diverse economy, we encourage you to consider Ontario as your home away from home. Our doors are always open.
